What Is It?
The Siding and Window Dealers Association of Canada (SAWDAC) operates the Window Wise™ National Certification Program. Under this program, minimum standards are set for windows, best practices are outlined and installers are trained on proper window installation procedures. Installations registered with the Window Wise program are randomly inspected by independent auditors and all windows purchased and installed under the Window Wise™ program come with an unconditional, non-prorated, transferable 5-year guarantee.
The Window Wise™ Contractor
A Window Wise Contractor must meet and adhere to a strict set of guidelines. He or she must have been in business for a minimum of three years, have a good reputation, be financially stable, adhere to the SAWDAC code of ethics, offer a minimum 5 year workmanship guarantee, carry a minimum of $2 million in liability insurance, and have all his or her tradespeople complete the mandatory Window Wise installation training course.
The Window Wise Installation
A window installed under the Window Wise program has been installed by a properly trained and certified installer. The installation procedure specifies 25 criteria that must be met for a quality energy-efficient installation. And Window Wise independent auditors conduct random follow up inspections of registered installations to ensure standards are being maintained.
